The Interlacements team recently spent the weekend in Schaumburg IL for Stitches Midwest! We had a great time and celebrated our first anniversary with the business!

On Friday, Brittany, Emily and Zoe attended the Pajama Party in the lobby.

Brittany & Emily spun up some roving on their drop spindles while Zoe just hung out and socialized as she forgot the pattern for her knitting project.

Interlacements at Spin of Door County

Located in the scenic “Gateway to Door County,” there sits a beautiful building originally built for the safekeeping of treasures belonging to the citizens of Sturgeon Bay. Today it serves a similar purpose, but the treasures contained within are more specific to the fiber artists who know about this little corner of Wisconsin.

Along with the beautiful yarns, you are welcomed to sit and knit in one of the old offices upstairs. These have been transformed to generate a relaxing atmosphere that is conducive to your creative desires.

For those who are more inclined to knit among the bustling activity of the shop, there is a knitting area on the main floor as well.

Don’t forget to peek into the vault and find more special treasures within.

Illuminated by the natural light of the grand windows, I spied the Interlacements Yarns that are carried here.

And here’s our Spider Web lace weight on display. You’d better hurry, it looks like it’s going fast!

Zoe writes about her trip to the Yarn Garage and StevenBe. The first shops in Minneapolis to carry Interlacements Yarns:

I recently spent the weekend with The Glitter Knitter, Steven Berg, of StevenBe in Minneapolis and Yarn Garage of Rosemount MN. I spent Saturday at the Yarn Garage and Sunday with the StevenBe Luncheon crowd.

I walked into the Yarn Garage and was immediately taken aback by the yarn stacked all the way to the pressed tin ceiling.

Ladders were needed everywhere!

Where or where does one start? I decided to get a feel for the layout and see if I could find any of our yarns amid these extravagant displays.

Both stores supplied an initial blast of awe and wonderment as you first walk in. followed by hidden treasures to be discovered as you spend more time observing the details.

StevenBe exhibits a large chandelier as an upward accent to all the beauty and creativity living at your eye's level.

WOW! This looks even more impressive in person!

Using the space of a former fire station in South Minneapolis, StevenBe is more open than the cozy Yarn Garage, but there were even more treasures to be discovered as I took some time to shop.

I will be returning in the last week of July for another trunk show and to teach some classes for our Beaded Scarf Kit. I had a great time with Steven at both shops and can’t wait to return.

Tracey has loaded the latest from Interlacements and she is on her way to Columbus, Ohio!

First up is the TNNA Summer Needlearts Market, a trade show for designers and retailers. If you fall into one of those categories, come check out what you can order at Booth #1629! All colorways will be showcased in her most popular yarns PLUS some new crochet patterns will be displayed. The trade show runs June 11-13 at the Columbus Convention Center.

After a couple days of rest, she'll be back at the Convention Center for the Knitters Connection, a show open to all June 16-18. She will be teaching the beaded scarf pattern on Friday.

Interlacements Yarns is going to be sponsoring a Yarn Tasting at the Wisconsin Spin In April 7-9 in Pewaukee WI. We will feature some of our new yarns and some of our existing yarns along with fibers for the spinners to try out! New yarns to include: Silk Foo Young, Baby Bison, Irish Linen and Fibers that are new are Merino in both regular and superwash style and also a new roving in East Friesian/Polypay. Yup, I've been in the studio doing all kinds of dyeing and tons of spinning up some of the dyed batts I've made. I'm so glad that the weather is getting warmer, we tapped a few trees for maple syrup and the chickens are having a ball in the yard scratching all the bare places that expand each day as the snow melts.

I WANT SOME WARM WEATHER

I got really spoiled in Mexico and want to see more of that warm weather. I had a great time walking barefoot, in shorts, and swimsuit etc.. and not a pile of clothing. I want to sit on my deck and spin in the soft breeze and the sunshine- maybe today. It's supposed to be around 50 today so I might just do that.

I've been the "mudder" on the walls in the basement and now the painting is finally all done too.

Going to start the rock on the fireplace and the tung and groove on the walls. Should be great. I want it done for when my mom comes to visit in June.

Working in the studio again today as I'm really behind on my dyeing. I have two classes in May at the Lake Elmo MN show that I'm teaching and I want to show some extra examples.

Still knitting baby things, but spinning more now as my back is sore from painting and the flat bed machine hurts my back after an hour or so. My sweetie girl turns 25 this month so I want to do something fun for her, need to get some ideas.

One of my groups on Rav was talking about making or mixing up a copper color. I was experimenting last weekend in the dye studio and came up with a great mix. I used orange and navy. Love it! Will do more after I get this knit up.

I can't believe it's December already! Where did the time go? I'm still working on some fingerless gloves for a neighbor and his fiance' and other small add on gifts for family.
I have the spinning guild meeting at my house on Saturday so will be good to see everyone and catch up.
I'm getting ansy to get into the studio and do some dyeing, but it's been sooooo cold here, and snowy. Much too easy to stay in the house and hibernate. Hunting is finally over here except late bow season so hope to do some fun things finally.

This is my sweetie girl.. she is going hunting with her hot boyfriend at our house. Has her book in hand and a bag of chocolates to keep her quiet.(he says... but I know better... she can stay quiet in the woods as long as she is not cold) she hunted with us a few years ago and did great!

Holiday baking and trading

Last weekend Barb and I made Pizzelles, and I can't show a picture of them cause they're all gone... but, Kimi and I made noodles on Sunday and she brought me the most beautiful gingerbread barn and alpacas. All of it it edible and so cute. I took it to work to show off and will bring it home again after the holidays.

I love to cook and bake. Unfortunately it shows! My favorite foods incluede the holiday candy and cookies I make for my family and friends, and I always do a batch of pizzelles for everyone.I love them cause they are something my mom made my whole life, and also cause they are differnt . Not too sweet and not too heavy.
I want to bake up a batch before thanksgiving this year... maybe do that this weekend.

I am doing well , 5 days after surgery! Trying to do a bit of knitting, but still tire out easily. Have not even tried to spin yet. Maybe this weekend. Had to show my flowers that my co-workers sent here to the house... so pretty and nice to brighted up the dreary days we have had, even some snow flakes yesterday.. geez.. too early.

Anyway, here is a few projects that I have been working on, and my Adult Surprise Jacket out of odds and ends of handspun yarns that I had.

Football??? Love Football! Are you ready for some

Football?? Monday night party... I love sunday and monday fall tv. It means football! I usually make football tailgate food and we watch 3 to 5 games per week. My favorite teams are: Of course the Packers!! But, I watch and root for the Chargers, and The Cowboys, and the Broncos and sometimes even the others.. I watch the Jets, but only to watch Brett Favre really. I loved when he played here in Green Bay. He was such a good guy. Probably still is.. just hard to see him in the wrong color jersey.
Tonight is Monday night again, so gotta go get chicken wings and a few things before I settle in my chair with my knitting or spinning. Love it!

Halloween?

Nope, not dressing up.. I'm scarey enough.. and living in the country we get no tricker treaters so I put a few pumpkins and some cornstalks out for fall decoration and call it good.

Our fall is really at peak right now. The leaves are so pretty,and our weather is nice. We've had mostly warm days and cooler nights.

So, it's finally October. I love the crisp days and nights. And it is so nice to pull ou the woolens again and wear socks etc.. I finished my second baby surprise jacket and started a third and also an adult surprise jacket for me.

Tomorrow is going to be a dye day in the studio. Need to do some more yarns and rovings before I go to Spin In in West Bend WI.

I got a wonderful suprise package from my "spoiler" from the Falling for ewe swap. There was a neat knitting bag, a pattern for Heritage Yarns "A Bias Towards Lace" It knits up on a bias to make a scarf and there is beads to put on the edges. Also in the bag was scrumptious yarn in the "Peacock Iridescence" it is a 8/2 Tencel. The beads are a beautiful shade of green that look like the color of peacock feathers. This is going to be a fun scarf to knit.

Favorite fall type foods

That is an easy one! Pumpkin anything... bars, cookie, pie, soup, baked, latte, it's all good!
I love cinnamon too, so the pumpkin and cinnamon thing is a definate this time of year.
But, I also like saurkraut and ribs with mashed 'tatoes, and acorn squash, and of course cooked cabbage with pork and root veggies. And, apples in the fall. Cider, pie, baked, sauce, I guess I just like food!!!

It's definately fall here in the northwoods. I've been knitting up a ton of things... show and tell time... and spinning during all the football games. So far I've made a fair dent in my fiber stash to spin up. Here is my finished Baby Surprise Jacket!

What ‘cold weather’ project are you looking forward to making the most the autumn?

I'm going to finish my side to side jacket first, and then just working on socks for everyone. I need to have a big stash of socks built up for the holiday season. I guess I'd have to answer that I look forward to spinning. I love to spin and watch football in the fall or winter. Today's game will be using my NEW Majacraft wheel (hubby got me for christmas early) I got the new Pioneer wheel. I'm going to spin up some wonderful fiber I bought at Sheep and Wool festival from Hooked on Felt (Suzanne) . Her batts are wonderful, and the colors are fantastic. I did one skein already and then plyed it up with some locks she had dyed. Will try to get picts. up on the blog.
I started a pair of wrist warmers for Mike's fiance' Kate, and only have the last ten rows to do on the pair. So maybe will call Mike and if he's going to be home, will run them over to him today. He is a shepherd that has Polypay and East Freisan (spelling?) sheep. I go and help him shear every year, and he gives me choice of fleeces. I love this man! Great fiber and we always have such a good time. His fiance' is a vet, and a sweetie. Kate ...we are going to get you spinning yet!
I made a new recipe of artisan bread... wow... super great. You can store the dough in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and just pull out a hunk and bake it fresh when you want.

Artisan Bread Recipe
3 cups warm water
2 tsp yeast ( I used bread machine yeast)
6 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
Mix all together and let rise in a oiled bowl on the counter covered with a damp dish towel. Then after about 4 hours, you can refrigerate it covered with the dish towel yet or pull off a chunk and bake. I pulled off a piece about the size of a grapefruit, and dusted it with flour and put it in a greased glass pan, and let it rise for an hour or so again, then baked at 425. for 40 min.
Will bake another chunk up today, but going to add raisins, walnuts, butter and make it a sweet bread type.

Well, being a "dye" freak, I'd say the colors of the leaves here in the Northwoods. We have a ton of maple trees in the yard and the woods, so we get great color for fall. I love the smell of fall too. Especially since it always seems to be cooler and I do some cooking and baking. I love the apples and cinnamon smell when I make applebutter and pies...I also love the cool crisp nights and sleeping with the windows open. And of course wearing my wool stuff !

At sheep and wool festival I did a bit of shopping and a ton of gabbing. I missed seeing everyone so much and catching up on what is new. I did buy some roving, and some books, and some locks for spinning and ... ya know how it goes.. But, I did trade with most of my vendor friends and also got some cool fiber things. Can't say what as it might be part of my swap partners new box I'm making for her.

Packers play tonight and I am going to finish up the roving I'm spinning from "Hooked on Felt" (thank you Suzanne! hugs! ) and then start a pair of wristlets for Mike's fiance. He asked for two pair.
A great weekend was had by all, and I think Kimi will be a shepherd soon. She acquired two sheep this weekend...hahahha..

Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival!

Headed out this morning to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool festival. Truck is loaded, knitting in hand, coffee in the other hand. Dog is looking at me like... geez... I wannnna go too...
Can't wait to see everyone, and see what is new. Kimi and I are camping in her pop up camper on the grounds with some other vendors , we are excited to see everyone again.
Saturday night is the Ravelry get together- will be fun to go to. Will post pictures when I get back.
Oh, my friend Barb wove me the most beautiful scarf I've ever seen! Thank you Barb!

Dye day in the Studio again!

This long weekend was a productive and fun time in the dye studio. I dyed up a few pots of yarn and a pile of sock blanks. Also did some roving for spinning. As it was hot and a bit breezy everything is drying well. I was really into purples yesterday. Funny how when you are happy you are drawn to fun and happy colors.
Cranked up three pair of socks yesterday and will try to get the watermelon socks done, I want to take three or four pair down to Jefferson Sheep and Wool festival (WI)

We just got back from the best time ever! Was down at Stitches Midwest in Chicago area. Three of us Wisconsinites went down to work in the booth for Interlacements Yarns. It was so fun. and the market place was the best one yet. I bought lots of books, I love books, and sock yarns, and some cool buttons. Did I mention that I love books???? So, today am back at work after a week of total knitting/ playing. Hard to stay on topic here.. mortgage or yarn.. hummmm...
I started knitting a new jacket out of a kit I got in our booth. It's the side to side jacket and the sleeves are almost done. I did them out of a mohair and a silk held together and love it!
I'm going to try to have my friend show me tonight how to do the mitered squares. I've always wanted to do some, but can't seem to get the concept down.
The Packers play tonight in GB so, might not get any knitting done, I usually spin during the games and since I have some new roving to spin, I might just do it instead. I have three skeins done and want to finish up the last two balls of roving.

Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been at your craft? I knit mostly. I can crochet but not enough to make anything. I have been knitting for about 5 years give or take.
Do you spin? What type of spinning do you do? Yes! I love to spin and I spin alot! I spin wool and exotics into all types of yarn. I love socks and do sock yarn , but I also do some funky stuff and some bulky for purses etc..
Are there any other crafts that you participate in? I used to do some weaving, but not much anymore. I do also of dyeing tho. I dye most of my own fiber and yarn (wools)

What are you currently working on? Anything you plan to start this autumn? I've got a couple of things started. I started a roundtrip jacket, a trinity jacket, a baby suprise jacket, and a few pr of socks.

Dyed a bunch of knit tubes up to unravel and reknit into some cool things. I used wool and cashmere yarn and thickened up my dyes so I could really paint. It was time consuming and alot of work, but I think it was well worth it. Also got a hat done for the Olympics, wish I'd have chosen a larger project. Wonder if I can change my project?

New socks done on the CSM

I spun and then dyed this wool and knit into socks on my CSM. I love the colors and how they both came out so nicely.

I've also been working on the patches exchange we are doing on Ravelry. I made a square for my swap partner Liz and then one for me. And of course started a third to make something else. Was a fun pattern that did not take a ton of concentration so could easily knit it at work or while watching tv.

To garden or to spin???

Seems like summer is going toooo fast. I wanted to spin the whole day tomorrow and get my yarns done for the next project, but I need to work in the gardens and so will probably end up splitting my time between the two. I love summer and want to soak up as much as I can before it's gone.
I'm spinning some roving I got last year at Sheep and Wool from Anne Jackson. It is a red, burgandy, purple and has glitz in it. I'm doing it as a two ply and will be hoping to knit it up as a wearable of some kind.
I want to really look at the patterns out there this year at Stitches in Schaumberg IL when I go . I will be working in the booth again for Judy from Interlacements Yarns, so I have a chance to shop for a bit while I'm at the show. ( love it)
Had only one chick hatch this past month, so will post a picture of the new little peep. He/she is cute, can't tell what it is. Kinda a grey in color tho.

Built a new coop for the chickens and hubby says it is a cadillac of coops. We sided it with left over vinyl siding from the house and garage, and used aluminum clad to do the window area. I have a door with a window and a nester that I can get to without having to go inside. It hinges open from the outside.

Going to the state fair this Sunday for my day to work in the wool room. We sell our things that we've made, and demo for the crowd. Kimi is going with me this year. Have to have a huge cream puff while we are there too.

That's about it, now, knit or garden? Oh, no, it was spin or garden.. to much to do, no time to do it all.... geez.

Cranky Day

Yesterday my friend Cris came over and we sat out on the upper deck and cranked out sock after sock. I got 7 pair done and so did she. We did mostly handdyed yarns that we dyed up last summer, but I did a few pair of handspun too. Today going to dye some sock blanks and then close up toes on the pile of socks from yesterday.

B-4 Bobble bag

Okay, I started this bag at work as all my bosses were out golfing and I had a quiet office to knit in. I really got a great bit done, up to row 40 and all in handspun yarn again. I have to find some cool beads to add to the bag soon as it is needing some glitz. I like this pattern cause as soon as you are bored with the pattern rows you are on it switches to a new pattern. That keeps it fun. Plus it uses up all the odds and ends I had left over of handspun yarns.
